MEET THE MAKER

My name is Rachel Ervin, I'm 26 years old and am the sole owner and designer here at Hide Society. 

I am the type of person who doesn't know how to sit still. If I'm not doing one thing, it's another. I bounce around from project to project, finding different DIYs and redesigning my apartment. These are all attributes to my creativity, love for design, and giving everything an aesthetic. 

A little about my life:

I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska until I moved off to Kansas City, Missouri in 2014 for college. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and am currently working at a child psychiatric hospital full time during the week. 

My workshop is currently in my two-bedroom apartment. I transformed my spare bedroom into a full functioning workshop where I have all of my tools, shop table, templates, designs, materials, and so much more. More often than not, the workshop looks like a tornado made a surprise visit. 

I came across leather work a fews year ago, and since then have become so wrapped up in it. Leather is such a beautiful material that is reliable, durable, and sure to last for many years. It's kind of like a fine wine, it gets better with age. 

Since March of 2021 my work and my vision has evolved. I started off with basic, cheap tools from Amazon and slowly transitioned into high quality tools that have become amazing investments. This became an important transition not only in my work, but also in the way I run my business. With all of  my work being done by hand- from cutting, to the sewing, to the stamping, and chiseling, these investments became crucial.  Large investments become the focal point of productivity and the quality of my work. 

Hide Society was born after I saw potential in what I was creating. It was a slow, expensive process, but I found I was capable of and willing to put in the work and effort to create a brand using only high quality materials. I am confident in my products, designs, and work and I hope for the world to enjoy them as much as I do!

I'm so excited to share my work and produce products that you'll love and that are sure to last for years to come.
